Ancient Kauri Wood Spindles
Jonathan's fascination with beautiful and rare woods interested him in ancient Kauri wood, many thousands of years old. Kauri is light in weight — Finished Midis range from 20-25 grams; Minis, 14-19 grams; Featherweight, 12-15 grams. Kauri is a beautiful 'napped' wood, a deep warm cinnamon brown when looking 'down the grain;' a lighter amber color when looking 'up the grain.' The price of these is $70 for a Midi, $60 for a Mini or Featherweight. Add $18 for a shaft in Cherry, Walnut, Cochin Rosewood, Tulipwood, Bocote or Bloodwood. Due to the variations in wood density, most of these whorls will be balanced with a fine brass pin placed in the underside of the whorl.

Shipping increases to our customers reflect increased cost to us. Domestic USPS Priority Mail shipping with tracking for a 1-pound package is $5.55-7.00; insurance at your request and cost. Packages at 12 oz or less may be sent by USPS 1st Class mail, no insurance, no tracking for about $4.00.
International packages sent by USPS 1st Class International: $8.75 to Canada for a 12 oz package; $13.90 to Europe, Asia and Australia. Charkhas & Journey Wheels sent by USPS Priority or Express Mail/insured depending on availability by country. A shipping estimate is always included with confirmation of your order.
